Part 32: Halt

A little hand on my shoulder, yanking me back. I don't see her eyes in the dark.
"Little girl."
"Twelve."
She smiles.
"I prefer Maker."
"So does Eleven." My voice is matter-of-fact. Trying hard to contain my fear.
Twelve comes closer, stands on her toes to kiss me. I let her.
"I wish you would try to trust me. I just want to take care of you. Honest to God. You have nothing to fear."
I look down.
"What can I do for you, Maker?"
She caresses my face.
"Where will you go now?"
I have no answer. Maker strokes my hair.
"Come home with me, Lelo. To your pugs. To Enigma."
"Enigma is with Eleven."
"I know. She told me." I look at her, surprised. Maker talking with Eleven? I assumed they did not see eye to eye. So much for my intuitive powers. They may be sharing residence for all I know.
"I have never seen you with her. Eleven, I mean."
"She doesn't get out much."
"I thought you said she was dead?"
Maker sighs.
"Sweetheart. It is very hard to explain. About her. Us. I wish you stopped pressing me."
"You never told Enigma."
"No. I don't think it serves him."
Maker kisses me softly.
"It's not a conspiracy, Lelo. Nothing sinister. I don't keep her locked up in the attic. We are two sides of a very weird coin."
"Oh?"
" And I call her Maker."
"What does she call you? No, you don't have to tell me."
"She likes you. But not like me. I'm fucking crazy about you. It broke my heart, seeing you go."
"I'm sorry, Maker. I never meant to hurt you. I'm just scared to be hurt myself."
She holds my face in her soft palms. Can't help closing my eyes, her touch is wonderful. Thumbs drawing tiny circles on my temples, making my whole body tingle. She backs me to the wall, presses her body against mine. Pushes her knee between my thighs. My hand glides under her dress. No panties. She is soft and moist. I slide down to taste her. Like a ripe peach, juices bursting in my mouth. Her sweetness makes me moan with desire. She sighs.
"Damn, little girl, you make me crazy."
I stand up. She puts her arms around my neck.
"Let's go home, Lelo. You can leave in the morning, I won't stop you. But please stay tonight."
"I promise."
