Shibaricamp 2019

Shibaricamp is an annual international rope camp in Sweden, gathering teachers and participants from all over the world for a week of classes, play, community and co-creation.
(Thus, Shibaricamp is an English speaking event.)

For the ninth year in a row, around 50 rope enthusiasts will come together at the quaint location in Smögen, situated in the beautiful countryside of Bohuslän, Sweden (just north of Gothenburg).
This year, we extend camp with one day - thus, camp will be held Monday-Sunday 5th-11th of August 2019.

Registration for tickets will be open from May 1 (18:00 CET) to May 8 (24:00 CET) at www.shibaricamp.se/registration

What happens at Shibaricamp?
At Shibaricamp you can enjoy lots of classes from Swedish and international teachers, performances, yoga classes, and you also have the opportunity to buy private tuition from our teachers.

In the evenings we set the mood for tying and play in the various playrooms, in our dungeon in the basement, or outdoors in the yard - protected from the surroundings but not from the other participants... Or for quiet conversations with new and old friends for those who want to rest before next day's classes.

Co-creation is a big part of Shibaricamp, so if you want to contribute to the event by pulling together your own workshop or focus group, create a special atmosphere in the playrooms with music or lighting, or hold a performance during Shibaret (Shibari cabaret), you are very welcome to do so!

Teachers
The teachers' team of 2019 is now complete!
We are proud to be able to announce an exciting group of rope teachers from Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, UK and Denmark:

sansblague and Bergborg (Stockholm)
They are excellent and inspirational educators with a huge depth of knowledge about rope. Together they run Studio Kokoro in Stockholm, and they have taught at e.g. EURIX in Berlin, LFRA in London, Kinbaku Weekend in Helsinki and IRW in Utrecht.

Lello Li (Berlin) and Alex Mino (Marseille)
Since they met at EURIX in Berlin, they draw their joint inspiration for shibari from dance, influenced by both partners, borrowing drama techniques from the theatre, clown, and primal play where everyone is active. The notion of active/passive is lost, everyone influences the game that becomes one ‘togetherness’.

Andrea Ropes and Chiara Fenice (Bologna)
A purely erotic vision of ropes, Andrea has created his own, unique style; fluid, eclectic and eccentric are adjectives that describe him. They both have a great passion for ropes, which we hope to sample and get inspired by.

MnR (London)
MnR discovered shibari in 2014 and this evolved into a love affair with ropes. He has been a regular at Anatomie Studio in London since it opened and quickly became an essential member of the studio. He has been published in Artplay Magazine and has provided rope work for videos including an award winning art installation in Oslo.

Artifexual (Copenhagen)
Through his ten years of tying he has been influenced by many skilled riggers and models, including the knowledge, bits and knots he has found into his own eclectic freestyling.
Since 2011 he has taught many aspiring rope tops how to tie, take charge and have fun, and he likes to inspire and motivate others to find their own way into great rope experiences.

The teacher's team at Shibaricamp 2018 consisted of:

- Tifereth, Canada
- Pauline, Spain
- Bound ♥, Sweden
- Lahtnor, Sweden
- Gestalta & Osaka Dan, UK & AUS
- YogaNoir, Sweden (yoga classes)

What's it like at Shibaricamp?
Shibaricamp is something we create together - from clearing away the dishes and cleaning up after us when camp is over, to living, tying and exploring together for a whole week. This creates a relaxed and open atmosphere that many claim is unique, and which makes many people return year after year.

For us, it is important that Shibaricamp is a safe place to be, and acceptance and respect for each other, our bodies, identities, sexualities, backgrounds and boundaries are fundamental.

No special prerequisites for Shibaricamp are required - we strive to have workshops for everyone. However, the workshops are held in English, as the participants come from many different countries.

Tickets
Application for tickets to Shibaricamp has now opened!
Fill in the registration form at: www.shibaricamp.se/registration
Registration for tickets will be open from May 1 (18:00 CET) to May 8 (24:00 CET).

A ticket provides you with basic lodging and full board for 6 days and nights, 4 days of classes led by an international team of great teachers, 1 free day for excursions, private tuition, playing or resting, at a summer camp that is hard to beat!

The cost of this is committing to co-creating camp, which includes taking care of the people and the place, e.g. helping to clean on the last day. You also need to pay for a ticket, which is 3995 SEK ($400) per person.

After processing the applications we’ll let you know if you get one. It is then reserved; it's really yours first after payment has been completed.

Feedback from one of the participants at Shibaricamp 2018:
“Dear friends in Shibaricamp. Thx a lot for the awesome time here. It was so great to build new friendships here, please call, relax, eat and drink or just be! I've never seen anything like this before. And I'm so happy to take part of this too."

STOCKHOLM!

we are having a decompression on Thursday evening, either at someone's house in Central Stockholm or at a cozy bar.

Will post more info when details are decided!

That's a great initiative!
Bring cough drops and hot water bottles for those that caught the camp cold...

So much fun love and so reasonable!
Shibaricamp is now ONLY ONE DAY AWAY!

All the volunteers are busy prepping the venue for your arrival, and we’re all so psyched to get started..! Now, we’re only missing you guys :)

Packing: Don’t forget to bring: Rain-clothes, sunscreen, repellant and anything else you need from the drugstore, bedding (sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases) and cash.

Classes: The final schedule will be posted on the website, www.shibaricamp.se, later today.
Once you’ve arrived at camp, you will get descriptions about the classes that the different teachers are offering, and also meet the teachers in person, so that you can start figuring out which classes you’re more interested in.

See you tomorrow!
Hello friends!
We have room for two more people in my car. So if anyone needs a ride from Göteborg to camp on Monday, please send a PM.
Looking forward to camp! 💚

I saw Stuart and Stella were asking for a ride from Gothenburgh on Monday - here:
www.facebook.com/events/2186851411372031/p…

As you may have understood already, we really like to stress that Shibaricamp is a co-created event - and we don’t want to miss out on your contribution!
Therefore, we feel it’s time to start sparking ideas about what you would like to bring to camp, in terms of content, spirit and creativity.
Here are some ideas of things that you could take part in if you want, but please, if you have other ideas - bring them on!

Shibaret
Do you want to do a kinky tango? Sing a serenade to your daddy? Or have a mayhem tying battle to see who can suspend a bowling ball covered in lube? Everyone can join!
The only two restrictions are that it should have something to do with rope / kink / bdsmf and that is not 'just' a rope act (unless it's hilarious).
If the thought of performing something in front of a small and supportive audience awakens your curiosity, we strongly recommend you to get in contact with one of the creators and this year’s coordinator of Shibaret, Dekadamen - send your ideas to: shibaret@shibaricamp.se and she will get back to you to start planning for this year's amazing show!

Impromptu content
There’s going to be some space in the schedule and at the venue for anyone to contribute with their own material. It can be a class of something that you’re good at and want to teach others, a discussion group around a topic that you feel strongly for, or a performance of your own.
You don’t have to announce it beforehand - just think about it at home (write to us and bounce your ideas if you want to) and when you get to camp, put it up on the signboard and let people know how to join it. It is also a good idea to write on the board if you want others to also partake in creating content or just come to participate.

Decorate the play spaces
We have two public play spaces at camp, and one private dungeon. During the day, the play spaces are used for classes and meals, and thus they need to be made up every night before play time starts.
We would love for you to participate in making the play spaces into the space of your dreams by helping to decorate and set the mood with lighting and music.
So, if you would like to help out with this, bring your favourite light strings, electric lanterns (no open flames!), decorative fabrics to hang up, or whatever you would like to add to the space. And if you want to put together or share a great playlist for rope, please do it in Spotify if you can, and make it public, so that we can access it!

Me and Tensionwhore har bringing colourful pennants (vimplar) for decorating the play spaces!

  22 jul 11:54

I'm bringing some stuff for the Shibaret stage! Who's doing an act?!?! 🙌😍

  23 jul 11:14

Awesome! We love you guys!

Who is going from Skåne (Helsingborg, but can travel anywhere) to Smögen? I'd love to join you! I don't have a car but I have a driver's license to share the burden!
Hi! is there anyone that will go by car from Stockholm or Gothenburg? that would like to travel together? however unfortunately I don’t have a driver license 🙃
  21 jul 20:45

Min bil är tyvärr redan fylld med campare, annars hade du varit varmt välkommen 😍

All of you who have gotten a ticket offer, don’t forget to pay the fee by the deadline, Tuesday June 4th!

We hope to see you all at camp, but if we don't get your payment on time, and haven’t heard anything else from you, we will assume that you don't want to come and will release your spot to someone on the waiting list.
  4 jun 10:27

We are all looking very much forward to the big swedish Shibari happening of the year 😍

We have finally gotten through the hard task of choosing amongst all the people who applied for Shibaricamp this year. All of you who registered should have gotten an email today about whether you’re up for a ticket or not.

Please check your inbox, and if you have been offered a ticket, be sure to secure it (by paying the camp fee) before the deadline!

Unfortunately, due to the space limit at camp, and the large interest this year, we had to turn down two thirds of the applicants. If you didn’t get a ticket this time, we hope you’ll be interested to apply again next year...!

When we allocate the tickets, we try to get a good mix of e.g. skill levels, roles, genders, nationalities, and a good balance between recurring and new participants, to achieve that great camp spirit that Shibaricamp is known for.
  22 may 01:15

🤩😍👏

  22 may 09:04

When will volunteers be chosen?

  23 may 22:21

We have now also sent out notifications to those who applied for volunteering at camp.
For those of you who didn't get a spot in the team this year, we hope you may still be interested another time!

Do you want to join Shibaricamp as a volunteer? We need some more people to join our team of volunteers for 2019!
As a volunteer, you’ll be part of the crew and a vital part of making camp run smoothly. You’ll be enjoying camp with everyone else, but paying with your time and energy performing chores and taking extra good care of camp instead of buying a ticket.
If you are interested, please fill in the form at shibaricamp.se/volunteer/
  8 may 00:06

Volunteers will mainly be taking care of the cooking, and all that goes with it, and everyday maintenance of the common household chores of camp, like washing, cleaning, and rearranging rooms for different activities.
If you have any questions about this, please email us at info@shibaricamp.se!

  22 may 00:23

The registration has closed, and we are currently busy with the ticket allocation.

It is really awesome to see that so many of you want to join us this summer, but there is a flip side to it too: With almost three applicants per available ticket, we will have to say no to several people we really would have liked to join us at Shibaricamp this year.

When we distribute tickets, we try to make sure to have a good blend of new and recurring participants, experience levels, genders, and roles in rope.

If you don’t get a spot this year we hope that you don’t think too unkindly of us, and that you still will want to join us another time. ♥
  10 may 22:37
